Taking Steps for the Future

Campus Technology Services (CTS) welcomes you to SUNY Oswego!  CTS is the department on campus responsible for many information technology services that you will come to use on a daily basis.  Please complete the checklist below to become familiar with some of these services.

_____ Activate your Laker NetID.   Your Laker NetID is the username and password that you will use to access many online services. Activation is available from the "Email Account Activation" link at www.oswego.edu/mail.

_____ Decide what type of campus-owned computer you would like to use.  Both PC and Mac desktop and laptop options are available.  Specific models are available at www.oswego.edu/cts/admin_services/computer_equipment.html. Contact michael.pisa@oswego.edu with your selection or questions.

_____ See what software comes installed on your machine at www.oswego.edu/cts/imaging. Additional licensed software is available for installation from www.oswego.edu/cts/help/licensed_software.html. If what you need is not available or if you have questions, contact michael.pisa@oswego.edu

_____ Check your email using LakerApps.  LakerApps is our suite of email, calendar, document sharing and collaboration applications powered by Google.  Email is an official form of communication at SUNY Oswego, so be sure to check it regularly.  Get started by logging in at www.oswego.edu/mail.  Please note, your username for this service is your firstname.lastname part of your SUNY Oswego email address.

_____ Check your teaching schedule and roster at the myOswego website, www.oswego.edu/myoswego.  You can also set-up your campus emergency contact information should there be a campus emergency.  Login to myOswego using your Laker NetID.

_____ Set-up your course material in the ANGEL learning management system.  All courses are pre-loaded into ANGEL.  You can develop your course and then enable it when you are ready for your students to access it.  Login using your Laker NetID at www.oswego.edu/angel.

_____ Become familiar with teaching in our Advanced Technology Classrooms (ATCs).  Information about equipment available and how to use the classroom podiums is available from our ATCs website at www.oswego.edu/cts/atcs.

_____ Find out your campus phone extension.  You can use the People Search online directory to find out your campus phone number as well as phone numbers for other employees and departments.  Simply call another extension by dialing the last four digits of the number. Access People Search at www.oswego.edu/people_search.  You can also search for colleagues' phone number using the voice directory at extension 6263 (NAME).

_____ Set up your voicemail and personal billing account.  Voicemail instructions for your phone are available at www.oswego.edu/cts/phone/dialing_employee.html.   On this site, you will also find a form for creating your personal billing account which is used for making personal phone calls.
