1. What is the web server replacement/upgrade project?
The web server replacement/upgrade project will replace the computer hardware that currently hosts the SUNY Oswego web site. The hardware that runs the existing SUNY Oswego web site is out-of-date and needs to be replaced. Upgrading the web server allows us to maintain existing web-related services as well as prepares us to offer additional future services.

2. When is the upgrade scheduled?
The upgrade is scheduled to start at 9pm on Tuesday, May 20th and be completed by 4pm on Thursday, May 22nd.

3. What services will be unavailable during the upgrade?
Certain web-related services will be unavailable.
On Wednesday, May 21st, from 6am-7am only, the following services will be unavailable:
- Viewing and editing of all http://www.oswego.edu/ web pages.
- View and login access to SUNY Oswego web-based services including myOswego, web-based email (Communications Express), Banner, and ANGEL.
Outside of this one hour timeframe, users will still be able to view and access the above sites.
For the duration of the upgrade (May 20th 9pm - May 22nd 4pm), the following services will be unavailable:
- Publishing of SUNY Oswego departmental and personal web pages.
- Uploading and downloading files to and from the web server and rocky (ftp).

4. Will I still be able to access myOswego during the upgrade?
Access to myOswego will be unavailable from 6am-7am on Wednesday, May 21st. During this time, you will not be able to view or login to myOswego for any purpose, including submitting grades for classes. Outside of this timeframe, myOswego will still be available for viewing and login access.

5. Will I still be able to access ANGEL during the upgrade?
Access to the ANGEL learning management system via www.oswego.edu/academics/angel will be unavailable from 6am-7am on Wednesday, May 21st. However, during this timeframe, you can still get to ANGEL by going to the http://oswego.sln.suny.edu/ web site.

6. Will I still be able to access my email during the upgrade?
If you use Communications Express, the SUNY Oswego web-based mail reader, to read your SUNY Oswego email, and login through the www.oswego.edu/mail web site, you will not be able to login and read your email from 6am-7am on Wednesday, May 21st. If you use a mail client such as Thunderbird, Outlook, Apple Mail, or Pine, you will still be able to login, read, and send email throughout the duration of the upgrade.

7. Will I still be able to access Banner during the upgrade?
Access to Banner will be unavailable from 6am-7am on Wednesday, May 21st. During this time, you will not be able to view or login to Banner. Outside of this timeframe, Banner will still be available for viewing and login access.

8. Will I still be able to view and read SUNY Oswego web pages during the upgrade?
Viewing and reading of SUNY Oswego web pages will be unavailable from 6am-7am on Wednesday, May 21st. During this time, you will not be able to view or read any http://www.oswego.edu/ web pages. Outside of this timeframe, viewing and reading of SUNY Oswego web pages will still be available.

9. Will I be able to make any changes to my SUNY Oswego departmental web pages during the upgrade?
For users that use the OU Campus product to create and make changes to your SUNY Oswego departmental web pages, editing of web pages will be unavailable from 6am-7am on Wednesday, May 21st. Outside of this timeframe, you will still be able to make changes and save them on the staging server. However, you will not be able to publish those pages to the production web server until after the upgrade is finished (after 4pm on Thursday, 5/22). You will need to login to OU Campus after the upgrade to publish the pages that were changed.
If you use another product to update departmental web pages, you may still be able to make changes to those pages, however you will not be able to upload and/or download (ftp) files to and from the SUNY Oswego web server for the duration of the upgrade.

10. Will I be able to make any changes to my SUNY Oswego personal web pages during the upgrade?
If you use the OU Educate product to update your SUNY Oswego personal web pages, we suggest that you NOT make any changes during the upgrade. Aside from 6am-7am on Wednesday, May 21st, you will still be able to login to OU Educate and use the toolbar to make any necessary changes, but you will not be able to save those changes. You will be presented with an error message when trying to do so.
If you use another product to update your SUNY Oswego personal web pages, you may still be able to make changes to those pages, however you will not be able to upload and/or download (ftp) files to and from the SUNY Oswego web server for the duration of the upgrade.
