I use discussion groups, mini-quizzes and extended quizzes, and brief written assignments for concept checks.

It has provided motivated students with additional ways to interact with each other and myself in reflecting on the course material.

• What lessons have you learned?

I have learned that by making the activities optional, the students who are motivated to enhance their learning will do so.
