Technical workshops will start the week of September 9 and continue through the beginning of November. Various hands-on workshops are available in the categories of CTS Projects and Services, General Computer Use and Maintenance, Web Conferencing with Blackboard Collaborate, Microsoft Office, LakerApps, and Multimedia.
Are you a new employee at SUNY Oswego? If so, we highly recommend the “Overview of CTS Services” workshop on September 12 where you will learn about many of the technical services we offer. In addition, you’ll learn about employee discounts available to you on personal purchases through Apple, Dell, Verizon, AT&T and Microsoft.
If you would like to hear about the projects CTS is working on that might affect you, your department or the campus, come join us for lunch on October 1 for our “CTS Projects” workshop. Complimentary lunch will be provided.
LakerApps week will be the weeks of September 16 and October 14. Each of these weeks offers sessions on LakerApps Gmail, Calendar, Drive (for document collaboration and storage), Sites (for creating personal websites) and Forms (for creating online submissions forms). These classes are a great way to get up to speed with LakerApps quickly!
Beginning and advanced workshops on MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint will be offered. Advanced classes are offered at the same times as the beginning classes, but two weeks later. It’s a great way to learn the basics, practice them for a couple of weeks and then come back to learn more advanced features.
For the classroom, we will offer sessions on using the synchronous online web-conferencing tool called Blackboard Collaborate. This allows you to hold a class, office hours, meetings all online. We also will have a session on our lecture capture software for recording your class lectures. Both of these systems are easy to use and integrate with our ANGEL learning management system.
These and more workshops are available for registration at our CTS Workshops Registration page. Workshops are freely available to all faculty, staff and students.
