As referenced in a prior blog post, Google is changing its Apps for Education sign-in pages to have a consistent look and feel. This provides better security and will make it easier for clients to switch between multiple Google accounts.
Google has scheduled this change to take effect for our campus on Monday, January 20.
This change only affects Google’s sign-in pages. Credentials used for computers and other non-Google services are NOT affected by this change.
Google’s new sign-in page will look like the screen shot below:
As shown, all clients will need to log in using a full SUNY Oswego email address.
John Doe is a SUNY Oswego student. He previously logged into LakerApps as “jdoe”. Now he will log in as “firstname.lastname@example.org”
Joanna Bloggs is a SUNY Oswego employee. She previously logged into LakerApps as “joanna.bloggs”. She will now log in as “email@example.com”.
Users who rely on multiple Google accounts will be able to easily switch between them using Google’s new interface shown below:
CTS will modify the link on our mail landing page to reflect these changes. If you already have a bookmark or web shortcut pointing at http://www.oswego.edu/mail, you will not need to modify it or create a new one. Simply click on the login button as before and it will present you with the new login page.
