Lakers close regular season with 19-16 loss at Brockport, Ventresca claims single-season scoring mark

Oswego State women’s lacrosse team played even with host College of Brockport for the entire first half and the opening 5:30 of the second half before the Golden Eagles went on a 7-2 run over a nine-minute stretch to hold on for a 19-13 win in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) finale for both teams on Tuesday, April 28.

Lakers SUNYAC playoff chances end with 18-13 loss to Oneonta on senior day

Senior Rachel Ventresca (Syracuse/Henninger) scored a team-high four goals, while classmate Shannon Brown (Amherst) added three goals for Oswego State. But the Lakers saw their slim hopes for a SUNYAC playoff berth come to an end as Oneonta State broke open a one-goal halftime with a 10-6 second half en route to an 18-13 win in SUNYAC women’s lacrosse action on Saturday, April 25 on Laker Field.

Senior attack Rachel Ventresca (Syracuse/Henninger) moved into fourth place on the Oswego State women’s lacrosse all-time scoring list with a game-high tying four goals and an assists as the Lakers scored the last seven goals of the game to pull away from SUNY New Paltz in an 18-9 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women’s lacrosse contest on Tuesday, April 21 at New Paltz.

Lakers survive late second-half meltdown in 15-13 win at Elmira

For the second time in three days, the Oswego State women’s lacrosse team built up a double-digit lead early in the second half, only to see it shrink to single digits as the defense fought off a 10-1 run by Elmira College in the game’s final 18 minutes to hold on to a 15-13 victory in non-conference action on Thursday, April 16 in Elmira.
