Oswego State women’s lacrosse team played even with host College of Brockport for the entire first half and the opening 5:30 of the second half before the Golden Eagles went on a 7-2 run over a nine-minute stretch to hold on for a 19-13 win in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) finale for both teams on Tuesday, April 28.

Senior Rachel Ventresca (Syracuse/Henninger) scored a team-high four goals, while classmate Shannon Brown (Amherst) added three goals for Oswego State. But the Lakers saw their slim hopes for a SUNYAC playoff berth come to an end as Oneonta State broke open a one-goal halftime with a 10-6 second half en route to an 18-13 win in SUNYAC women’s lacrosse action on Saturday, April 25 on Laker Field.

Senior attack Rachel Ventresca (Syracuse/Henninger) set two single game school records with a career-high nine goals and five assists as Oswego State (9-6) assured themselves of a winning season for the first time in three years with a 22-5 non-conference triumph over Keuka College on Friday, April 24 on Laker Field.

For the second time in three days, the Oswego State women’s lacrosse team built up a double-digit lead early in the second half, only to see it shrink to single digits as the defense fought off a 10-1 run by Elmira College in the game’s final 18 minutes to hold on to a 15-13 victory in non-conference action on Thursday, April 16 in Elmira.
