Lakers first playoff appearance ends with 6-1 loss to Plattsburgh in ECAC Women's West quarterfinals

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - Nationally No. 3-ranked Plattsburgh State scored four times in the third period to break open a close game to defeat visiting Oswego State, 6-1, in an Eastern College Athletic Conference West Division Tournament quarterfinal game on Saturday at the Stafford Ice Arena.  The third-seeded Cardinals advance to next Saturday’s semifinals against No. 2 Rochester Tech, as the conference final four will be hosted by regular-season champion and top-seed Elmira College. Plattsburgh won its seventh straight as part of a 12-game unbeaten streak (11-0-1) to improve to 21-3-2 overall, while the No. 6-seeded Lakers end their season at 8-16-1.

Lakers set for first ever postseason playoff appearance this weekend

The Oswego State women’s hockey team, in only its third season of varsity intercollegiate play, will make its first postseason appearance on Saturday, February 28 in the opening round of Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women’s West division playoffs. The Lakers, the sixth seed in the tournamenrt, will travel to Plattsburgh to take on the third seeded and two-time NCAA Division III defending champion Cardinals at 2:00 p.m at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena.

Lakers drop 5-2 decision to Plattsburgh in regular season finale, will face Cardinals again in first ever ECAC playoff appearance

For the second straight night, Oswego State played even with defending NCAA Division III champion Plattsburgh State for one period, but the Cardinals broke the game open with four straight goals en route to a 5-2 victory in the second game of an ECAC Women’s West division weekend series at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena in Plattsburgh.

Lakers fall to defending national champion Plattsburgh, 3-1

Senior forward Jessica Lister (Aurora, ONT) scored early in the second period to pull Oswego State even with two-time NCAA Division III champion Plattsburgh State, but the Cardinals scored twice late in the period and held the Lakers scoreless in the third period to come away with a 3-1 triumph in the opening game of a two-game ECAC Women’s West Division series on Friday, Feb. 20 at Plattsburgh.

Lakers swept by fourth-ranked Elmira, 7-0, in home finale

Elmira College scored four times in the opening period and were never challenged en route to a 7-0 win over host Oswego State in the second game of a two-game ECAC Women’s West weekend series on Saturday, Feb. 14 at the Campus Center Ice Arena, spoiling the final home appearance of Laker seniors Stephanie Esposito (Parish, NY), Kendall Hanley (Raleigh, NC), Jessica Lister (Aurora, ONT), and Ashley Meyers (Lockport, NY).  The quartet represents the first senior class for the three-year-old varsity program.
