HEAD COACH TRACY BRUNO
The Oswego State athletics department has hired Tracy Bruno as its new head coach for women's basketball beginning in the 2007-08 season. Bruno comes to Oswego State after having served as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II member Hillsdale College, where she helped lead the Chargers to a 19-9 record in the 2006-07 season and an appearance in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship game.
"I am happy to be a part of Oswego State women's basketball, and I am looking forward to continuing the tradition of excellence that has been established over the last several years," Bruno said.
Bruno was responsible for recruiting at Hillsdale, assisting in all areas of on-court coaching in practices and games, coordinating travel, fundraising, and community service, and acquiring and editing game film. She supervised the team's academic progress, and Hillsdale's women's basketball team had the 11th-highest cumulative grade-point average in all of Division II, and was recognized by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
Bruno has other coaching experience in women's basketball and softball at Alpena Community College, and has teaching experience in physical education.
Bruno is a 1994 graduate of Saginaw Valley State University where she was a five-year member of the women's basketball team and a two-year captain. She was selected to all-conference, all-defensive, and all-academic teams throughout her playing career and was a member of a Saginaw Valley State team that played in the NCAA Division II Tournament and advanced to the Sweet 16. Bruno earned a bachelor's degree in physical and health education, and a master's degree in educational leadership from Eastern Michigan University.
