Women’s Basketball to Host Pink Zone Event on Friday, Feb. 12
On Friday, February 12, the Oswego State Athletic Department will participate in the Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association “Pink Zone” initiative in order to help increase the awareness of breast cancer. The day will consist of a double header featuring the women’s and men’s basketball teams taking on Plattsburgh, with $1 of each ticket benefiting the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer fund.
The action tips off with the Oswego State women’s basketball team at 6 p.m. followed by the men’s team at 8 p.m. Those in attendance will have an opportunity to learn more about breast cancer and receive complimentary pink ribbons, as well as make pledges that go to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer fund. On top of that during the women’s basketball game the teams will be using special pink basketball.

Oswego State To Webcast Women's Hockey and Basketball Contests
SUNY Oswego and the Oswego State Athletic Department are pleased to announce additional dates for live webcasts for women’s ice hockey on Wednesday, February 10 and the men’s and women’s basketball on Friday, February 12 and Saturday, February 13. Video and play-by-play for each contest will be provided by campus television station WTOP-10. Video can be accessed at www.oswego.edu/athletics/live.
The women’s ice hockey team will host non-conference Hamilton on Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. in preparation for the final four regular season games of the year. The final two home women’s and men’s basketball doubleheaders of the season will also be broadcast. Both squads will face Plattsburgh on Friday, Feb 12 beginning with the women’s basketball game at 6 p.m. followed by the men’s basketball game. The following day the Lakers will compete against Potsdam starting at 2 p.m. Only three SUNYAC contests remain after this weekend, so both teams will be battling for playoff spots.

Women's Basketball Loses To Cortland 90-45 Cortland shot a scorching 54.4 percent from the field on 31-of-57 shooting as the Red Dragons defeated the Oswego State women’s basketball team 90-45 on Friday night. Jessica Laing and Micki Volpini scored 29 and 25 points, respectively, for Cortland, while Rachel Kohrs (Sr., New Lebanon, N.Y.) paced the Lakers with nine points. Oswego State dropped to10-10 on the season and 7-6 in conference play. The Red Dragons improved to 17-3 overall and 12-1 in the SUNYAC.
Cortland owned a slim 16-14 lead with 8:54 remaining in the first half before building a 36-21 advantage at halftime, as the Red Dragon defense held the Laker offense scoreless for nearly six minutes. Kristen Diglio (Jr., Syracuse, N.Y.) drilled a three-pointer on Oswego State’s final possession of the frame to pull the Lakers to within 15 points.

Radio Broadcast and Live Stats Available For Basketball Games At Cortland
For fans unable to attend the men's and women's basketball games versus Cortland on Friday, February 5, a live radio broadcast and live statistics will be available for listeners and viewers beginning at 6 p.m. when the women's teams tip off. Both Laker squads are entering the thick of the playoff chase, so listen to the action to follow the teams. Different sites are available for the women's basketball live stats and the men's basketball live stats.

Women's Basketball Falls To Oneonta 74-57 In Tale of Two Halves Despite shooting a scorching 56.0 percent from the field in the first half, the Oswego State women’s basketball team could not hold on for the win as Oneonta prevailed 74-57 on Tuesday night. The Lakers went cold in the second half, shooting just 28.0 percent, as the Red Dragons went 16-of-28 from the floor in the frame. The loss dropped Oswego State to 10-9 on the season and 7-5 in the SUNYAC, while Oneonta improved 13-7 overall and 11-2 in the conference.
Both teams battled back and forth exchanging baskets for much of the first half. The Lakers took the lead with 9:19 left in the half off a three-pointer by Meagan Stover (Fr., Lake George, N.Y.), which put the Lakers up 19-16. On the next two offensive possessions, Kristen Diglio (Jr., Syracuse, N.Y.) and Kayla Ryan (So., Schaghticoke, N.Y.) both connected from three-point range giving the Lakers a six-point lead. Oswego State went 6-of-9 from the three-point line and took a 36-32 lead heading into halftime.
