Cavalcanti, Carra, and Pacchiana Earn SUNYAC Men's Soccer Post-Season Honors SUNY Athletic Conference Commissioner Dr. Patrick Damore released the 2009 Men's Soccer All-Conference teams on Thursday, November 5 and honored three Oswego State men's soccer players. Senior Felipe Cavalcanti (Valatie, N.Y.) was selected to the second team, while senior Chris Carra (Endwell, N.Y.) and sophomore Bryan Pacchiana (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) were named to the third team.
Forward Felipe Cavalcanti led the Lakers in scoring with six goals for 12 points in 15 games this season. He was named the SUNYAC Player of the Week and the ECAC Upstate Player of the Week on October 5 after he tallied three goals, including two overtime goals for wins over Plattsburgh and Potsdam. Cavalcanti, a captain in 2009, was named to the All-SUNYAC Third Team in 2008.

Overtime Goal Ends Men's Soccer Season After 3-2 Loss At Geneseo Geneseo's Ian Mort scored the game-winning goal less than one minute into overtime to hand the Oswego State men's soccer team a 3-2 loss in the first round of the SUNY Athletic Conference Playoffs. Sophomore Max Guliani (New York, N.Y.) forced the contest into extra frames with a goal in the 77th minute, but the Blue Knights scored on the first shot in sudden death to advance to the conference semifinals. The Lakers ended the season at 6-10-1, while Geneseo improved to 9-6-2.
Scoring started after the midway point of the first half when the Blue Knights’ Yuta Shimizu served a corner kick to Kurt Jameson, who put the ball into the lower left part of the net from 12 yards out. Oswego State tied the game when Felipe Cavalcanti (Sr., Valatie, N.Y.) scored on a shot from six yards out after receiving a pass from Marshall Cooper (Fr., Fulton, N.Y.) at 34:36.

Men's Soccer Overcomes Halftime Deficit To Defeat Alfred 2-1
Sophomore Max Guliani (New York, N.Y.) scored with 2:50 remaining in regulation to help the Oswego State men's soccer team defeat host Alfred University 2-1 on Tuesday night. The Saxons held a 1-0 lead at halftime, but the Lakers came back to score the final two goals for the victory. Oswego State, which is now 6-9-1 overall, will travel to Geneseo to face the Blue Knights in the first round of the SUNYAC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. Alfred dropped to 5-9-1 overall on the season.
Frankie Mannino put the Saxons ahead 1-0 in the 40th minute of play with an unassisted goal as Alfred held a slim 5-3 advantage in shots for the period.

Men's Soccer Loses To Oneonta 2-0, Clinches Berth In SUNYAC Post-Season The Oswego State men's soccer team fell to the Oneonta Red Dragons 2-0 on Saturday afternoon, but still clinched a bid in the upcoming SUNYAC tournament as the sixth seed. The Lakers, who are 5-9-1 overall and 4-4-1 in the league, have one non-conference contest remaining before facing #3-seed Geneseo on Saturday, Oct. 31 in Geneseo. Oneonta, which received the fourth seed with the victory, will host fifth-seeded Cortland next Saturday as well.
Both squads were tied 0-0 at the half before Evan Jedynak scored the eventual game-winner for the Red Dragons in the 53rd minute. Jedynak received a pass from Jonathan Kowalski before beating Oswego State goalkeeper Matt Wopperer (Jr., Manilus, N.Y.) in the top right corner of the net.

Men's Soccer Keeps Pace In Playoff Race With 2-1 Win Over New Paltz The Oswego State men's soccer team kept pace in the SUNY Athletic Conference standings with a 2-1 win against New Paltz on Friday in Oswego. The Lakers, who improved to 5-8-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the league, now controls their own destiny as they moved into a four-way tie for third place with Cortland, Geneseo, and Oneonta and one game remaining on the conference schedule. The Hawks dropped to 6-9-2 overall and 1-7-0 in the SUNYAC.
After a scoreless first half, Max Guliani (So., New York, N.Y.) put Oswego State on the scoreboard in the 52nd minute for his second goal of the season. Bryan Pacchiana (So., Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) and German Collazo (Jr., Freeport, N.Y.) were credited with assists on the score. Captain Dave Baldanza (Sr., Herkimer, N.Y.) added an insurance goal in the 85th minute of the game with his first goal of the year.
