Oswego State To Webcast Women's Hockey and Basketball Contests
SUNY Oswego and the Oswego State Athletic Department are pleased to announce additional dates for live webcasts for women’s ice hockey on Wednesday, February 10 and the men’s and women’s basketball on Friday, February 12 and Saturday, February 13. Video and play-by-play for each contest will be provided by campus television station WTOP-10. Video can be accessed at www.oswego.edu/athletics/live.

The women’s ice hockey team will host non-conference Hamilton on Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. in preparation for the final four regular season games of the year.  The final two home women’s and men’s basketball doubleheaders of the season will also be broadcast.  Both squads will face Plattsburgh on Friday, Feb 12 beginning with the women’s basketball game at 6 p.m. followed by the men’s basketball game.  The following day the Lakers will compete against Potsdam starting at 2 p.m.  Only three SUNYAC contests remain after this weekend, so both teams will be battling for playoff spots.

Men’s Basketball Offense Erupts In 97-49 Win Over Morrisville

Stanley FrancoisThe Oswego State men’s basketball team broke back into the win column in a big way with a 97-49 victory against non-conference Morrisville on Sunday afternoon. The Lakers went on a 19-2 run midway through the first half to take a 54-26 lead at halftime, and continued to build on their advantage in the second half. Stanley Francois (Sr., Valley Cottage, N.Y.) led the Oswego State offensive attack with 15 points, while Chad Burridge (So., Hannibal, N.Y.) recorded his seventh double-double of the season scoring 14 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.

The Lakers, who improved to 10-10 overall, will host Plattsburgh on Friday, Feb. 12 at 8 p.m. in the first game of their final homestand of the regular season.  The Mustangs fell to 6-13 overall.

Men's Basketball Falls To Cortland 76-63

Chad BurridgeCortland went on a 15-0 run midway through the second half en route to a 76-63 win over the Oswego State men’s basketball team in Cortland on Friday. Each squad had three players finish in double-digits, but the difference in the game came down to field goal percentage as the Red Dragons shot 50.0 percent (31-of-62) compared to the Lakers, who shot 36.4 percent (20-of-55). Oswego State, which fell to 9-10 overall and 4-9 in the league standings, was led by Chad Burridge’s (So., Hannibal, N.Y.). Dustin Marshall paced Cortland, which is 13-7 overall and 9-4 in the SUNYAC, with 16 points.

With Cortland leading 15-12, the Red Dragons put together a 15-5 run before a trey by Chad Burridge stopped the streak to make the score 30-20 with 8:02 on the clock.  The Lakers mounted a late charge, scoring seven unanswered points to close out the first half trailing 42-37.

Radio Broadcast and Live Stats Available For Basketball Games At Cortland
For fans unable to attend the men's and women's basketball games versus Cortland on Friday, February 5, a live radio broadcast and live statistics will be available for listeners and viewers beginning at 6 p.m. when the women's teams tip off. Both Laker squads are entering the thick of the playoff chase, so listen to the action to follow the teams. Men's Basketball Drops 83-77 Double Overtime Loss To Oneonta

Chad BurridgeTwo overtime periods were needed to determine a winner between the Oswego State and Oneonta men’s basketball teams, as the Lakers suffered an 83-77 loss at Oneonta on Tuesday. The contest featured 11 ties and nine lead changes between the squads, but the Red Dragons scored seven unanswered points to start the second overtime to distance themselves from the Lakers, who fell to 9-9 overall and 4-8 in the SUNYAC. Oneonta improved to 14-5 on the season and 7-5 in the league.

The seesaw battle started at the onset of the contest, but the Red Dragons held a nine-point lead with 57 seconds remaining in the half.  However, the Lakers went into the break trailing by just four points after Chad Burridge (So., Hannibal, N.Y.) hit a jump shot and a three-pointer at the buzzer.
