HEAD COACH CHRISTIAN WEIGANDT
Oswego State hired Christian Weigandt as its new head coach for cross country, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field in January of 2007. Weigandt joins the Laker athletics department after serving as Assistant Head Coach for cross country and track and field at Hillsdale College in Michigan, and replaces Tim Boyce, who led the programs for the last six years.
Weigandt is a 1997 graduate of Alfred University where he was a two-time captain of the Saxons' cross country team and a three-time all-conference honoree in track and field. He helped lead Alfred to a track and field conference championship and earned Academic All-American honors in cross country.
After obtaining his bachelor's degree, Weigandt remained at Alfred to complete his master's degree in Secondary Education. During that time, he served as a graduate assistant coach for the Saxon teams. His coaching development continued for two more years with internship positions at Hamilton College and Hiram College in Ohio, where he assisted with both cross country and track and field teams.
Weigandt began his tenure at Hillsdale in September of 2001 as an assistant for women's cross country and track and field. During his time he coached athletes that broke more than 30 school records, earned eight Division II All-American awards, and achieved over 45 national qualifying performances. In addition, he has coached numerous conference champions, all-conference performers, and all-academic nominees. Weigandt has experience coaching all events in track and field and is Level II certified by the USATF.
