Mike Levy named SUNYAC Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete Award winner

Junior infielder Michael Levy, Jr. of the Oswego State baseball team has been honored as a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Spring Chancellor’s Scholar-Athlete Award winner for the 2008-09 academic year.  The award is given annually in each sport to a first or second team All-Conference team member with the highest grade-point average and has completed three or more semesters.

Lakers post 20-win season with doubleheader sweep of Utica College.

Oswego State secured its first 20-win season in nine years in registering a doubleheader sweep over Utica College in a non-conference contest on Wednesday, May 6 in Oswego. The Lakers (20-13), who’s last 20-win campaign came during the 2001 season when they finished 20-12 and garnered a runner-up finish in the SUNYAC Championship tournament,  won the opening game 25-4 before taking the nightcap, 4-2.

Lakers near 20-win season with doubleheader sweep of Cobleskill

Sophomore outfielder Brandon Wroblewski (Rochester/Greece Arcadia)  hit a combined 4-for-6 with three runs scored and three runs batted in, while senior third baseman Pat O’Keefe (Bronx/Lehman) batted 5-for-8 with a run scored and two RBI as Oswego State kept its hopes alive for an ECAC postseason berth in sweeping a pair of seven-inning non-conference doubleheaders from host SUNY Cobleskill on Tuesday, April 28.

Lakers close out conference play with one-run doubleheader losses to Plattsburgh

Oswego State held early leads in both games of a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) versus host Plattsburgh State. But the Cardinals came from behind in both to register the sweep on the final weekend of conference play on Sunday, April 26 at Plattsburgh’s Chip Cummings Field.

Four-run eighth inning hurt Lakers in 5-2 loss to 12th-ranked Ithaca

Oswego State held a one-run lead through seven innings before 12th-ranked Ithaca College put up four runs on two hits in the top of the seventh inning to post a 5-2 decision over the Lakers in a non-conference matchup on Friday, April 24 on Laker Baseball Field. The loss snapped a three-game win streak and dropped their record to 16-11 with seven games remaining in the regular-season.
