Cavalcanti, Carra, and Pacchiana Earn SUNYAC Men's Soccer Post-Season Honors SUNY Athletic Conference Commissioner Dr. Patrick Damore released the 2009 Men's Soccer All-Conference teams on Thursday, November 5 and honored three Oswego State men's soccer players. Senior Felipe Cavalcanti (Valatie, N.Y.) was selected to the second team, while senior Chris Carra (Endwell, N.Y.) and sophomore Bryan Pacchiana (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) were named to the third team.
Forward Felipe Cavalcanti led the Lakers in scoring with six goals for 12 points in 15 games this season. He was named the SUNYAC Player of the Week and the ECAC Upstate Player of the Week on October 5 after he tallied three goals, including two overtime goals for wins over Plattsburgh and Potsdam. Cavalcanti, a captain in 2009, was named to the All-SUNYAC Third Team in 2008.
Fellow captain Chris Carra, a midfielder, garnered third team All-SUNYAC honors after starting all 17 games. He recorded four points on one goal and two assists during the season.
Sophomore defender Bryan Pacchiana was a constant for the Oswego State defensive unit, as he started every game this season for Coach Bob Friske. Pacchiana was part of a defense that allowed 30 goals this season.
The Lakers finished the season at sixth place in the SUNYAC standings with a record of 4-4-1 and an overall record of 6-10-1. Oswego State saw its season come to an end in the first round of the conference playoffs with 3-2 overtime loss to Geneseo.
