Volleyball Falls To SUNYIT In 3-2 Thriller

Katie vanKesselThe Oswego State volleyball team returned to action after a 10-day layoff as it fell to SUNYIT 3-2 (23-25, 25-23, 27-25, 12-25, 11-15) on Tuesday night in Utica. Offensively, Katie van Kessel (So., Millbrook, N.Y.) paced the Lakers with 12 kills. Oswego State fell to 7-19 overall, while the Wildcats moved their season mark to 15-10 overall.

Senior Alyssa Brock (Pine Bush, N.Y.) joined van Kessel in double-digits by posting a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs.  Liz Crouch (Jr., Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) dished out 37 assists, while freshman libero Shauna Westrack (Nesconset, N.Y.) led the team with 18 digs in the losing effort.  SUNYIT’s Juleah Vedder tallied a match-high 26 kills to go along with just four hitting errors.

Oswego State will participate in the second round of SUNYAC Pool Play on Friday and Saturday hosted by Fredonia.
