Mike Brewster to play in Division III North/South All-Star game

Oswego State senior midfielder Mike Brewster will be among 30 players selected to play in the 67th annual United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III North-South All-Star Game on Friday, May 22 at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA.  The yearly showcase features the top NCAA seniors throughout the East Coast.

The game, which starts at 2 p.m., will kick off an action-packed weekend of lacrosse action in the greater Boston area. The Division I-II all-star game will follow later in the day at 4 p.m. and will wrap up with a Major League Lacrosse pro game between the Boston Cannons and the Denver Outlaws at 7:30 p.m.

The NCAA will also host the Division I semifinals and championships, along with championship games for Divisions II and III from Saturday-Sunday, May 23-25 at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro.

Brewster is only the eighth player in the program’s 35-year history and first since 2004, to be selected to play in the yearly all-star game.  He was instrumental in leading the team to an 8-9 overall record and a third-place regular season finish in the State University of New York Athletic Conference with a 5-2 mark, reaching the conference playoffs for only the third time in school history.

Brewster, a two-time All-SUNYAC honoree, led the Lakers in scoring for the second straight year, tallying 47 points on 19 goals and a team-leading 28 assists. He rode a 30-game streak with at least a point dating back to March of 2008.  Brewster ends his collegiate career tied for 19th on the all time points list with 52 goals and 65 assists for 117 points.

The son of Jim and Terri Brewster of East Syracuse, Brewster graduates from SUNY Oswego this spring with a bachelor’s degree in History.
