Lakers receive ECAC Upstate tournament bid, will face St. John Fisher in semifinals
The Oswego State men’s basketball team, which finished as State University of New York Athletic Conference regular season co-champions and reached the semifinals of the SUNYAC Men’s Basketball Championship, was one of four teams to earn a berth in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Upstate New York Basketball Championship. The four team tournament will be hosted by St. John Fisher College on Friday and Saturday, March 6-7.
The Lakers (16-10), seeded third, will take on second seed and host Fisher (16-9) in the first of two semifinal games on Friday at 6:00 p.m. Fredonia State (18-9), runners-up in last weekend’s SUNYAC tournament, is the top seed and will face fourth seeded Hartwick College (13-12) in the second game at 8:00 p.m. The winners will meet on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. for the championship.
This will be Oswego’s seventh straight trip to the ECAC tournament. The Lakers last won the title during the 2004-05 season, while reaching the championship game on two other occasions, the last during the 2005-06 campaign.
