Shawn Merlin, Men's Swimming and Diving Oswego State junior diver Shawn Merlin (Palmyra, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) won the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events in dual meets against RIT and Oneonta this past week.  Merlin qualified for the 2010 NCAA Diving Championships on the 1-meter springboard with a score of 279.60 against RIT.  He is undefeated in each of the six diving events he has competed in this season.

Rachel Sanborn, Women's Cross Country Oswego State freshman cross country athlete Rachel Sanborn (Liberty, N.Y./Tri-Valley Central) posted a 21st-place finish at the 2009 SUNYAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday.  She crossed the finish line in 24:49 for the highest Laker women's finish since 2004 when Leann Donnelly took fifth place with a time of 23:39.
