Luke Moodie Honored As SUNYAC Men's Hockey Rookie of the Week
Oswego State men's hockey player Luke Moodie (Fr., Burlington, Ont.) has been named the SUNY Athletic Conference Men's Hockey Rookie of the Week for the week ending February 7, 2010. The Lakers improved to 21-1-0 overall and 13-0-0 in the conference with a 5-2 win over Cortland.

Women’s Basketball to Host Pink Zone Event on Friday, Feb. 12
On Friday, February 12, the Oswego State Athletic Department will participate in the Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association “Pink Zone” initiative in order to help increase the awareness of breast cancer. The day will consist of a double header featuring the women’s and men’s basketball teams taking on Plattsburgh, with $1 of each ticket benefiting the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer fund.

Oswego State To Webcast Women's Hockey and Basketball Contests
SUNY Oswego and the Oswego State Athletic Department are pleased to announce additional dates for live webcasts for women’s ice hockey on Wednesday, February 10 and the men’s and women’s basketball on Friday, February 12 and Saturday, February 13. Video and play-by-play for each contest will be provided by campus television station WTOP-10. Video can be accessed at www.oswego.edu/athletics/live.

Women’s Hockey Suffers 2-1 Setback To Utica
Utica’s Eliza Kelley scored the eventual game-winning goal early in the second period as the Pioneers handed the Oswego State women’s ice hockey team a 2-1 loss on Sunday afternoon in Oswego. The Lakers controlled play in the final frame, but were unable to break through for the tying goal. The Pioneers improved to 10-11-2 overall and moved to fourth place in the ECAC West Standings at 6-8-2. Oswego State dropped to 7-12-1 on the season and remained in a tie for fifth place at 5-8-1.

Men’s Basketball Offense Erupts In 97-49 Win Over Morrisville
The Oswego State men’s basketball team broke back into the win column in a big way with a 97-49 victory against non-conference Morrisville on Sunday afternoon. The Lakers went on a 19-2 run midway through the first half to take a 54-26 lead at halftime, and continued to build on their advantage in the second half. Stanley Francois (Sr., Valley Cottage, N.Y.) led the Oswego State offensive attack with 15 points, while Chad Burridge (So., Hannibal, N.Y.) recorded his seventh double-double of the season scoring 14 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.

Collins’ Overtime Goal Gives Women’s Hockey Key 3-2 Win Over Utica
Kelly Collins scored her second goal of the game on a power play 2:18 into overtime to give the Oswego State women’s ice hockey a critical 3-2 overtime victory over visiting Utica on Saturday night. The Pioneers forced the game into overtime with just 17.3 seconds remaining on the clock after Lynny Gonzalez netted her second goal of the contest. The Lakers, who improved to 7-11-1 overall and 5-7-1 in the ever-tightening ECAC West standings, will face Utica, which is 9-11-2 overall and 5-7-2 in the league, on Sunday at 3 p.m.
