Grad School Week Returns This October
Everything from choosing, applying and paying to GREs, MCATs and LSATs will be covered during Oswego's annual "Graduate School Week," beginning Oct. 18 and culminating with the Graduate School Fair Oct. 26.
Presentation topics include applying to and affording graduate school Oct. 19. A panel of law professionals will be assembled to discuss education options in their field Oct. 20.
"There are more general information sessions for undergrads so they can understand the process, the timing," said Michele Hamer '84, assistant director of graduate admission and recruiting/marketing.
In recent years, organizers from the offices of Career Services and Graduate Studies have targeted sophomores, who are looking ahead to advanced degrees in increasing numbers.
The trend has inspired Graduate Studies to develop more five-year master's programs, said Hamer, who finds herself approached by underclassmen more and more at graduate fairs she visits on Oswego's behalf.
As the host school, there will certainly be an emphasis on Oswego options for advanced degrees, but the Graduate School Fair slated for Oct. 26 will feature representatives from upward of 65 institutions.
A special evening reception Oct. 25 will allow students to meet and greet about a dozen recruiters and ask questions.
The schedule is still being finalized and will be updated in the weeks leading up to the events.
