The Oswego
State women’s swimming
and diving team was recently recognized as an NCAA Division III Scholar
All-America team by the College Swim Coaches Association of America, or CSCAA,
for the 2008-09 season. In order to be named on the list, teams must have
had a combined team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the Spring 2009
semester.
The Oswego State women’s track and field team also has been
recognized as a NCAA Division III All-Academic team by the United States Track and Field and
Cross Country Coaches Association for the 2009 season.
The swimming and diving women’s team was one of three SUNYAC
squads honored among 83 Division III institutions with a combined 3.31
GPA. SUNY New Paltz (3.47) and SUNY Geneseo (3.29) were the other
conference representatives. Oswego
State also had a pair of
individual academic winners as Kelly
Williams ’10 and Kara Sitnik ’11
were honorable mention selections.
The CSCAA produces the All-Academic list for track and field
twice each year. The spring list also recognizes individual All-Academic team
honorees that are selected on the basis of their performance in the pool and
the classroom.
In order to be nominated for the award, the team must carry
a minimum 3.1 cumulative grade point average. The Laker women were one of
five SUNYAC teams honored among 100 Division III institutions with a combined
GPA of 3.12. Brockport (3.37), Plattsburgh
State (3.29), Geneseo (3.24),
and Oneonta (3.2) were the other conference representatives.
