SUNY Oswego is accepting applications for director of alumni relations, a key college position responsible for managing and engaging a national network of more than 72,000 alumni. As part of the Division of Alumni and University Development, the director is also a strategic partner in fundraising such as the $23.8 million Inspiring Horizons campaign.
"Hands down, the best part of my experience as alumni director is the relationships developed with literally thousands of alumni. Their interest in and commitment to Oswego is both energizing and humbling," said former director Betsy Oberst, who was recently appointed associate vice president of alumni relations and stewardship. "It is incredibly rewarding to oversee the strategic direction of alumni programs that support the exciting things happening at SUNY Oswego."
Applicants are required to have a bachelor's degree as well as a minimum five years of experience in alumni relations, fundraising or similar positions in nonprofit organizations.
"The role of the alumni director in leading Oswego's alumni outreach and engagement initiatives is a critical leadership component of the college's overall advancement efforts," said Oberst, who served as alumni director for 13 years.
Demonstrated ability in leadership, managing multiple priorities, team-building and communication skillsare desired. Experience in the college advancement field is preferred.
