Whether you constructed a set or performed the lead solo, the Oswego Opera Theatre is inviting past participants to join the chorus of alumni expected for a reunion in November.
The nonprofit opera company will celebrate its 30th anniversary Nov. 1 and 2. Festivities include a Saturday evening gala and Sunday performance of the theatre's latest production, Carmen.
Countless SUNY Oswego students, professors and other members of the campus community contributed to the nonprofit's productions over the past three decades.
"When you're doing opera, there are a lot of different people that are involved," current Opera Theatre board President Susan Swindells said. "It's a very supportive combination of programs."
In addition to Oswego theatre and music department involvement, students and professors from across the academic spectrum get involved. Technology education students have earned credits building sets for Oswego Opera Theatre productions, Swindells said as an example.
"There's so many different people that benefited from this program over the years," she said. "A person could be a business major and sing with us."
All Oswego Opera Theatre alumni are invited to take the stage again in a reunion chorus that will perform at the 30th Anniversary Gala. A Sunday reunion brunch is another highlight.
"Opera really brings together so many different art forms," Swindells said. "With any particular show, we had 100 people involved and you never know what kind of impact it has on each of them."
