The month of October will feature many
exciting events for Oswego State, both on campus and regionally.
The Communication Studies Reunion invites alumni from the communication
studies department to check out the recent changes on campus, meet current
students and hear a speaker. The Connections women’s symposium brings together
women of all ages and backgrounds to discuss entrepreneurship. Also in October,
Buffalo area alumni will reunite for a Buffalo Bills game and tailgate
party.
The Communication Studies Reunion will be held Oct. 20. At 2 p.m., alumni
will give a panel presentation for current students. Communications alumni can
take a 3:30 p.m. tour of the recently renovated Lanigan Hall and the Campus
Center, where the new radio and television studios are located. Dinner, at 7
p.m. in Hewitt Union's Forum Restaurant, will feature a guest speaker, Frank
Palumbo ’83. Palumbo graduated with a degree in communications and a
broadcasting concentrate. He is now vice president of marketing and client
relations at Nielsen Media Research and has more than 13 years of
television experience. For more information, visit http://www.oswego.edu/alumni/events_and_programs/comm.html.
The second annual "Connections: Moving Women to Power" symposium will take
place in Hewitt Union Oct. 25. Successful women from the Central New York area
and Oswego alumnae will talk about their experiences in entrepreneurship, the
business world, finance and health. Speakers include authors Joni Daniels
’77 and Julia Rozines DeVillers ’89 and Carrie Lazarus, a News
Channel 9 co-anchor. The symposium will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tickets
are available at the Tyler Box Office and are $25 by Oct. 15 and $35 after that
date. For information on the speakers and the event, visit http://www.oswego.edu/about/centers/cbcd/connections/.
Oswego alumni in the Buffalo area will join family and friends to watch the
Buffalo Bills play the Baltimore Ravens at Ralph Wilson Stadium Oct. 21.
Participants will gather before the game for a tailgate party featuring a
variety of foods. The cost is $55 for those who want a game ticket and the
tailgate party, and $12 for the tailgate party only. Tickets are limited, so
RSVP by Oct. 15. For more information on the event, visit
