Junior Volunteer Embraces the Stage and Major

Pavlus

Laura Pavlus '09 knew where she wanted to go to college well before she started attending classes at SUNY Oswego.

"My whole family went here; I've wanted to go here since my sister (Erica Pavlus-Schneider '99) started," she said.

The public relations major from Liverpool has been involved with the theatre department since her freshman year and this semester has taken on the task of the senior class coordinator for the current graduating class.

As senior class coordinator, a part of the Oswego Alumni Association's Senior Class Programming Committee, Pavlus has had a hand in planning Senior Week events and keeping the Class of 2008 informed of events and opportunities just for them.

"There are so many things that I wasn't aware of that seniors have the opportunity to do," Pavlus said, recalling all of the events that she has promoted for the senior class.

She was introduced to many alumni and networking opportunities at the New York City Career Connections event. The program sponsored by the Oswego Alumni Association ties to her ideal future plans: to live in a big city as an event planner.

Apart from her work with the senior class, Pavlus fills her spare time with rehearsals at Tyler Hall. She has performed in the Oswego theatre department's performances of "A Christmas Carol," "The Glass Coffin," and the student production of "Lost in a Viral Paradise," and past New Voices readings.

Her most recent theatre venture, "Cabaret," introduced her to the world of choreography. Pavlus is also a member Lambda Pi Eta and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies.
