Nick Perioli '08 of the Oswego State
men's basketball team recently completed one of the most distinguished careers
in the program's history. During his senior season, he became the Oswego State
career leader in assists and steals, and was recognized with a spot on the
All-SUNY Athletic Conference Second Team.
Perioli
has been recognized by the SUNYAC in all four seasons he's been at Oswego State,
and earned a place on the conference's Second Team in the 2007-08 season. He is
a native of Liverpool and the all-time leader in assists and steals at Oswego State.
In
16 conference games this year, Perioli played an average of 38.2 minutes per
contest and scored 15.6 points per game, with 81 assists against just 31
turnovers. He also grabbed better than four rebounds per game from the point
guard position and had 34 steals.
Perioli
was also voted by coaches from across the state to the D3hoops.com East Region
Second Team. He finished his career with 1,559 points to rank fourth all-time
at Oswego State, and had 567 assists and 226
steals over his four-year career.
During
Perioli's four seasons at Oswego
State, the Lakers
compiled a record of 86-31.
On the ice, Oswego State forward Ryan Ellis '09 was honored with three
notable awards following a spectacular junior campaign. He was named
All-American by the American Hockey Coaches Association, was the SUNY Athletic
Conference Player of the Year, and was recognized nationally by U.S. College
Hockey Online.
Ellis,
a native of Georgetown, Ontario, was named to the East Region Second
Team by the AHCA. Ellis led the Lakers in scoring, as he finished the year with
17 goals and 21 assists for 38 points, playing in 25 of Oswego State's
26 games. This was the third consecutive year that Oswego State
has had at least one player garner All-American honors, and Ellis is the 18th
All-American in Laker men's ice hockey history.
Ellis
is the reigning SUNYAC Player of the Year. In SUNYAC play, Ellis led the
conference with 25 points in 16 SUNYAC games this season with 11 goals and 14
assists. He helped lead Oswego
State to a second-place
finish in the league with a 13-2-1 SUNYAC record.
This
marks the third consecutive season that Ellis has been named to the All-SUNYAC
First Team and he is just the second player in SUNYAC history to be named both
Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year during his career, since the
conference started awarding those distinctions in 1984.
U.S.
College Hockey Online recognizes All-USCHO teams from each region, and Ellis
was an Honorable Mention forward in the East Region.
