Dozens of events - both
official and casual - will get cooking with this year's "Hot, Hot, Hot" theme
for Reunion. Get reacquainted with classmates
and faculty, review the many recent changes on campus and pick up an "Oswego
Green" reusable grocery bag during this year's event, which runs from Friday,
June 6, through Sunday, June 8.
"I haven't been back on
campus in a long time and based on some of the things I've heard and read
about, I'm really looking forward to seeing some of the changes," said Stephen Gilmartin '83, the Class of
1983 Reunion Giving Committee chairman.
Gilmartin is looking
forward to catching up with former classmates at the 25th Reunion for the Class of 1983.
"When we were going to school
it was always a close-knit group," said Gilmartin, a business major who works
as an accountant in New York City.
He's also encouraging his
classmates to make a donation in honor of their silver anniversary. Gilmartin
hopes to beat the record-breaking total of more than $100,000 set by the class
of 1982 last year.
Everyone is welcome, but
special events are scheduled for certain classes and groups. Several Greek
organizations have special get-togethers planned throughout the weekend. Other
clubs and groups of friends will share impromptu gatherings as well.
The classes of 1979, '78,
and '77 are invited to celebrate a 30th Cluster Reunion. The classes of 2004, '03,
and '02 will celebrate their fifth. There are also activities planned for the
classes of 1968, '63, '58, '53, '48, '43, '38, '33 and '28.
"It's just a fun
opportunity to reconnect with people and see what everybody's been up to for
the past 10 years," Reunion Planning Committee volunteer Colleen Clohessy Chahal '98 said. "It's fun to see how the town has
changed and how the campus has changed - the Campus Center
is amazing."
There will be plenty of
options for spending time with the family like walking tours of campus and Rice
Creek Field Station visits.
This year alumni
registered for the "Come as You Were" barbecue or "Taste of Oswego" events can
stay on campus in the newly renovated Johnson Hall. The lake-view dormitory is
within walking distance of many Reunion events and a continuous shuttle to
downtown Oswego
will run Friday and Saturday nights.
"It's nice to relive those
times," said Chahal, who is also looking forward to taking a look at the new
radio and television facilities with her fellow broadcasting alumni.
For a complete listing of
events and online registration, visit the Reunion
Web site. Registration is
required for all Reunion events.
