Miller Hosts CBS' 'Greatest American Dog'

Jarod Miller '00

Jarod Miller '00 is going to the dogs ... literally.

The animal expert, who has made more than 100 television appearances showing lemurs, snakes and even a camel, is the host of the new CBS prime-time reality show, "Greatest American Dog." The show debuts July 10 at 8 p.m. Eastern time and airs on Thursdays.

"It's really fun and rewarding to be part of a very excellently produced reality show with people being passionate about dogs," Miller said. "This show will resonate with the audience. People will have a greater appreciation for their own dogs."

A zoology major with a communications minor at Oswego, Miller is no stranger to the TV cameras.

He has been a regular guest on "Today," "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," "Live with Regis and Kelly," "The Tyra Banks Show," and "Entertainment Tonight." Miller also appears as the resident "wildlife buddy" on "Rachael Ray."

In addition to his appearances on the talk shows - which he began doing as a student at Oswego - Miller hosts two television shows of his own.

"Animal Exploration with Jarod Miller," his syndicated show featuring themes like "Need for Speed" and "Creepy Critters," is in its second season. He also co-hosts "PetFinder," which debuted this winter on cable TV's Animal Planet.

Miller has a segment on the Weather Channel's "Forecast Earth," and lectures widely.

His new show, "Greatest American Dog" features 12 teams of owners and dogs who compete in weekly challenges, and are eliminated one by one, until a winning team remains to take home the $250,000 prize.

In addition to his television appearances, Miller has served as the executive director of the Binghamton Zoo, and was the youngest accredited zoo director in the country at the age of 25.
