Oswego State Athletics recently recognized four seniors for their career accomplishments.
Volleyball and track and field star Heidi Armstrong '08 was named "Outstanding Female Senior Athlete."
Armstrong set a record for career kills in volleyball with 1,403. She was also named an All-SUNY Athletic Conference nominee three times and three times earned most valuable player honors at different tournaments.
The track and field team member holds the Oswego State records in the javelin, indoor weight throw, indoor pentathlon, and outdoor heptathlon and outdoor shot put. Armstrong also won two New York State Collegiate Track Conference and SUNYAC championships during her career.
For the first time, three men were recognized as "Outstanding Senior Athletes." Swimmer Greg Doyle '08, diver Kevin Morgan '08 and two-sport player Nick Perioli '08 shared the honor this year.
Doyle was a two-time first-team All American in the 200-yard freestyle. He set school records in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events as well.
Morgan is the most decorated diver in Oswego State's history, earning All-American recognition six times and setting four SUNYAC diving records. He also received the James Fulton Award recognizing the SUNYAC senior with the most distinguished career.
Perioli became the Oswego State career leader in assists and steals during his senior season playing basketball. He was recognized by SUNYAC in all four seasons at Oswego.
He also played on the baseball team, twice making the All-SUNYAC team as an outfielder.
