The Oswego State men's and women's soccer teams completed another competitive season in 2008, playing in one of the toughest conferences in the country, the SUNY Athletic Conference. Both teams were rewarded by the conference at the end of the season with two players each named to the All-SUNYAC Soccer Teams.

The Laker men, who finished 8-9-1 overall and returned to the conference playoffs after a year hiatus, were represented on the All-SUNYAC third team by forward Felipe Cavalcanti '11 and midfielder/co-captain Michael Roorda '09.

The Laker women, who finished 5-12-1 on the season and 1-8-1 in conference play, were represented on the All-SUNYAC third team by Tricia Sullivan '10 and Brooke Sherman '10.

Cavalcanti finished as one of the team's top offensive players for the second consecutive year, scoring a team-leading eight goals for 16 points. In conference play, he finished second in goals scored (seven) and tied for fourth in points (14). The seven goals came during a six-game stretch between late September and early October, where the Lakers went 5-1, winning four straight SUNYAC games in the run, to improve their season record from 2-4 and 0-1 in conference play, to 7-5 and 5-1.

Roorda finished with a goal and an assist in 17 games played, but headed an offense that scored 19 goals in SUNYAC play, and contributed to a defensive unit that registered four shutouts in conference play.

Sullivan finished as the team's leading scorer for the second straight year, registering seven goals and two assists for 16 points.  Five of her goals came as part of a three-game winning streak during the final week of September, which included her first career hat trick with three goals in a 6-1 triumph over SUNY Institute of Technology.  Sullivan registered at least a goal or an assist in six of the team's first eight games of the season in jumping out to a 5-3 mark.

Sherman garnered All-SUNYAC honors for the second straight year after earning honorable mention accolades in 2007. She finished with a goal and an assist on the year.
