While many SUNY Oswego students study abroad, very few, if any, do it on tour with hip hop star Snoop Dogg.

Steve Molinari '10 is taking this semester as a sort of independent study in the school of rock. The marketing major just returned from Europe and Australia, where he was an assistant tour manager for the Snoop Dogg tour.

Though it's not an Oswego-sponsored program, Molinari got his foot in the door through alumna Constance Schwartz '90, a former student of his father, Professor Jim Molinari '75.

Steve took advantage of the Oswego connection and joined Schwartz at The Firm in Los Angeles for a summer internship.

"I started out doing office work," Molinari recalled.

He was only a few weeks into the internship at the talent agency when he took the opportunity to be an assistant on the "Unity Tour" featuring rock act 311 and Snoop this past summer.

"I like how fast-paced it is, everything has to be done on the quick," Molinari said. "A lot of the time, no one tells you how to get something done, so you've got to figure it out yourself."

As for Snoop, "You never know with him," he said. "You've got to be on your toes.

"(Snoop's) very last-minute. He might say, 'I need to fly my buddy out to see the show tonight,'" Molinari said

Molinari has taken some interesting shopping trips at the rap star's request, from picking up a pre-release of the popular Madden football video game to getting a sports jersey for the rapper to wear on stage that night.

The Oswego native was inspired to get into show business by the HBO series "Entourage."

"I'd always been interested in movies, but I had never thought about the business aspect of it," Molinari said.

His introduction to the serious side of entertainment has him ready for more. However, Molinari plans to return to Oswego for classes this spring.
