WILLOCK PLEDGES $1 MILLION TO ENDOW PROFESSORSHIP
SUNY Oswego received the largest gift, exclusive of bequests, in its 145-year history, when Marcia Belmar Willock ’50 last month pledged $1 million to Inspiring Horizons: The Campaign for Oswego to endow the Marcia Belmar Willock ’50 Professor of Finance.

It will be Oswego’s first endowed professorship. Revenue from the gift will be used to provide enhanced funds for a faculty position in the accounting, finance and law department of Oswego’s internationally accredited School of Business.

MASS ENSEMBLE RESIDENCY TO FEATURE PERFORMANCES, WORKSHOPS, LECTURES
The acclaimed MASS Ensemble will offer performances, interactive workshops and lessons on art and technology during a residency through SUNY Oswego's Artswego program.

The MASS (Music Architecture Sonic Sculpture) Ensemble blends music, technology and visual arts in its groundbreaking productions. Members also bring expertise in a wide variety of fields, said Mary Avrakotos, who coordinates the Artswego Performing Arts Series.

OSWEGO ALUMNUS’ WORLD TRADE CENTER ORDEAL SUBJECT OF BLOCKBUSTER MOVIE
Oliver Stone’s new movie “World Trade Center” tells the story of a Port Authority policeman who is not only a real-life hero, he’s a graduate of SUNY Oswego.

Sgt. John McLoughlin ’75 led a group of Port Authority policemen into the World Trade Center complex to rescue survivors. He and Officer Will Jimeno ended up trapped inside the rubble. McLoughlin was trapped for 22 hours and spent four months in the hospital recovering. He lost function in his lower legs. “But I’m up and around,” he told Newsweek in an Aug. 7 article.

PROGRAM TO FOCUS ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP
On Oct. 12, SUNY Oswego’s Center for Business and Community Development will gather women from Central and Northern New York in the spirit of entrepreneurship. “Connections” is a day-long symposium designed to bring women of all ages and backgrounds together to explore their entrepreneurial place and power in the arts, in the business world and in various fields of science.

The day’s agenda will feature internationally known business coach, speaker and author Dr. Lois Frankel '73. Frankel’s last two books have been translated into over 20 languages and featured on the “Today” show and CNN, and in The New York Times.

MANWARING RETURNS TO KING HALL
The Oswego Alumni Association is pleased to welcome Melissa Manwaring ’01 as the new associate director of alumni and parent relations.

Manwaring will be responsible for regional alumni clubs, the Oswego State Fall Classic, the OsweGoConnect online community and other alumni activities, and hopes to bring renewed vitality to the association.

LEVY PROMOTED AT NBC SPORTS
Mark Levy ’86 has been promoted to vice president and creative director, NBC Sports and Olympics.

"Mark is more than a creative talent, he has a tremendous combination of creative and management skills," said David Neal, executive producer of NBC Sports and executive vice president of NBC Olympics. "He has demonstrated the ability to manage multiple major assignments and we are fortunate to have his insight and unique storytelling abilities for so many important areas of NBC Sports and Olympics."

‘HART HALL GIRLS’ RETURN TO CAMPUS
Four friends who lived together on the sixth floor of Hart Hall — Ellen Feigen-Kiefer '75, Jeannine Morgan Grossman '76, Carol Ostrander LaFever '75 and Anita Wheeler Jebbett '76 — had not seen each other in 30 years when they had a reunion on campus this July.

While the other three live in New York (New Hartford, Dundee, and Cortland respectively) Feigen-Kiefer has moved around the country and overseas, residing in California since 1987. The friends lost touch shortly after graduation and it was not until January when Feigen-Kiefer registered on OswegoGoConnect that anyone was able to find her.

OSWEGO STATE HIRES NEW FIELD HOCKEY AND WOMEN'S LACROSSE COACH
Oswego State has hired Marushka Eddy as its women's lacrosse and field hockey coach. Eddy joins the Laker coaching staff after a successful playing career at Plymouth State in Plymouth, N.H. and coaching experience at Springfield College and American International College in Springfield, Mass.

Eddy is a graduate of Plymouth State where she played for the Panthers field hockey and women's lacrosse teams. Eddy played 60 games over four years in field hockey and recorded 20 points, 15 of which she scored during her senior year on six goals and three assists. OSWEGO STATE HIRES NEW WOMEN'S SOCCER COACH
Oswego State has hired Liz McGrail as its new head coach for women's soccer. McGrail was the head coach at Tri-State College in Angola, Ind., in 2005 and prior to that she served as an assistant coach at Oneonta for three seasons.

"We will be a blue-collar team and plan to outwork our opponents on and off the field," McGrail said, "and also represent the university with class."

McGrail knows what it takes to be a part of a championship program after leading Oneonta to three SUNYAC titles and three NCAA Tournament appearances as a player from 1997-2000. McGrail is the only player in SUNYAC women's soccer history to...MORE
