The women’s field
hockey team will have a new coach, Marushka Eddy. |
Oswego State has hired Marushka Eddy as its women's
lacrosse and field hockey coach. Eddy joins the Laker
coaching staff after a successful playing career at
Plymouth State in Plymouth, N.H. and coaching experience
at Springfield College and American International College
in Springfield, Mass.
Eddy is a graduate of Plymouth State where she played
for the Panthers field hockey and women's lacrosse teams.
Eddy played 60 games over four years in field hockey
and recorded 20 points, 15 of which she scored during
her senior year on six goals and three assists. Following
her college playing career, she was an assistant coach
for the field hockey team at American International
College in 2005.
As a head coach, Eddy looks to build a Laker program
with strong values.
"We will make a commitment to teamwork, patience,
and dedication. Everything is going to take time,"
Eddy said. "Everyone has to do their share of the
work. With all of the work that people are going to
put in we will be successful on and off of the field.
We are starting with a clean slate and that allows us
to build a program with those ideals."
Eddy played in 65 games for the women's lacrosse team
at Plymouth State and missed just four games in her
four-year career. She finished with nine goals and three
assists as a defender and midfielder. She has lacrosse
coaching and recruiting experience at Springfield and
AIC and has been a girls lacrosse official in New Hampshire
and Massachusetts.
She looks forward to building the lacrosse program throughout
the year.
"I'm ecstatic about the season. I've had some time
to do some recruiting of players, and in having the
opportunity to meet with some other coaches, I have
an idea of what is needed to be successful," Eddy
said.
Eddy, a native of Nantucket, Mass., graduated from Plymouth
State in 2004 with an undergraduate degree in physical
education and will earn her master's degree in physical
education from Springfield College later this year. |
