Oswego State has hired Liz McGrail as its new head coach
for women's soccer. McGrail was the head coach at Tri-State
College in Angola, Ind., in 2005 and prior to that she
served as an assistant coach at Oneonta for three seasons.
"We will be a blue-collar team and plan to outwork
our opponents on and off the field," McGrail said,
"and also represent the university with class."
McGrail knows what it takes to be a part of a championship
program after leading Oneonta to three SUNYAC titles
and three NCAA Tournament appearances as a player from
1997-2000. McGrail is the only player in SUNYAC women's
soccer history to have been named conference MVP three
times (1998, 1999, 2000).
"I'm excited to be back in the SUNYAC. It's a great
conference and I don't think there's any reason why
Oswego State shouldn't be competing for the championship,"
McGrail said.
McGrail, a native of Stamford, is an active member of
the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
She earned a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary
Studies from Oneonta in 2001 and is working toward her
master's degree in Sport Coaching from the United States
Sports Academy. McGrail replaces Erin DeMarco, who coached
the Lakers for two seasons and is now the head coach
for women's soccer at Bryn Mawr College. |
