Anchal Mohan ’05, management associate, Citigroup, reads and edits the resumes of several soon-to-be Oswego graduates at the New York City Career Connections event held Jan. 4 at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

Forty Oswego alumni working in a variety of fields from accounting to broadcasting met with 102 Oswego students during the New York City Career Connections event. The event gave students the opportunity to meet professionals in their careers of interest and ask questions.

Ian Phillips ’06 talks with a student about joining the NBC Page Program, which offers college graduates the opportunity to take that first step into broadcasting. As a page, Phillips is given the chance to learn about many aspects of network television from the ground up. He acts as a liaison between NBC and the general public by conducting guided tours and performing various audience services for NBC shows. After one year in the program, he will be in a position to make a decision as to which area of the industry interests him most.

Louis A. Borrelli Jr. ’77 gives professional career advice to students interested in his line of work. Borrelli has been a pioneer in cable television and news media for more than 27 years, with a specific focus on operations, marketing, programming and new products. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of NEP Broadcasting, LLC, the leading international provider of outsourced teleproduction services of live sports and entertainment.

Michael Cassidy ’98 helps one student prepare her résumé for employers and job opportunities in her field of interest. Cassidy is the president of Intercept Interactive, a nationally recognized advertising and marketing services firm in NYC.

Oswego graduate Maureen Flynn ’04 reads through a résumé and gives advice on what an employer in her field of non-profit organizations looks for. Flynn is the program assistant at the Toshiba America Foundation in charge of writing grants for projects and activities that are improving teaching and learning in science and mathematics, specifically in K-12 classrooms nationwide.

Oswego alumni Anchal Mohan ’05 and Pei Chang (Jesse) Wu ’03 together critique résumés, and help students find ways to stand out to employers in the field of finance.

Recent graduate Kendra Kuehnle ’06 uses a visual aid to explain the advertising business to an interested student. During the event Kuehnle networked with Michael Cassidy ’98 about job opportunities and recently started a new position with Intercept Interactive.

Oswego grad student Adam Marinelli ’04 is introduced to Joan Cear ’80, managing director, G.S. Schwartz & Co., at the New York City Career Connections event last month. Cear was previously president and owner of The Wachsman Cear Group, another NY-based PR agency that merged with G.S. Schwartz & Co. in 2001. Cear is responsible for strategic planning and public relations program development and implementation for a wide range of clients. She attended the event to help students with specifics like how to network in the field, write a job-oriented résumé and how to find work in specific geographic locations.
