CAMPUS CENTER ICE
ARENA OPENS
It was an event 35 years in the making. During
the week of Oct. 17, the SUNY Oswego campus celebrated
the grand opening of the Campus Center convocation
center/ice arena, the first new building on campus
in three and a half decades.
Faculty staff, students and community members
had a preview of the Campus Center, with open
houses Tuesday and Wednesday, and a pep rally
to cheer the men’s and women’s ice
hockey teams to victory on Thursday.

SUNY OSWEGO MEETS
$17 MILLION GOAL, EXTENDS CAMPAIGN
SUNY Oswego has reached its $17 million goal for
Inspiring Horizons: The
Campaign for Oswego eight months ahead
of schedule. The Oswego College Foundation Board
of Directors has voted to extend the campaign
by one year from the original end date, to June
30, 2008, and to increase the goal by $6 million
to $23 million.
“We are
absolutely thrilled to have reached this milestone
so early,” said Oswego President Deborah
F. Stanley. “The success of this campaign
illustrates the powerful support the college inspires
in our alumni, friends and community members.”

BORRELLI SUMMIT ADDRESSES
IMPACT OF MEDIA ON SPORTS
“There’s never been a better time
to be a sports fan, if you judge by access to
the product,” said George Bodenheimer, president
of ESPN and ABC Sports and co-chairman of Disney
Media Networks. The athletes and pro teams are
getting more coverage. “The media is exploding;
there are more and more outlets. The entire business
is continuing to boom.”

WOMEN’S ICE HOCKEY
RETURNS TO OSWEGO
After more than 20 years, SUNY Oswego women's
ice hockey players, past and present, have a reason
to celebrate. The women’s varsity ice hockey
program is back, this time hitting the ice in
the recently completed Campus Center with new
equipment and an experienced coach.
After receiving support and encouragement from
SUNY Oswego’s President Deborah F. Stanley
and Oswego students for the redevelopment of the
program, new Head Coach Diane Dillon could not
be more excited.
“It’s fantastic,” Dillon said.
“It’s a tribute to early pioneers
of women’s hockey.”

LESZCZYNSKI JOINS
DEVELOPMENT OFFICE
Jamie Stack Leszczynski
’04 has joined the Office of University
Development as associate director of annual giving.
Leszczynski began working out of her office in
Sheldon Hall Oct. 10 and has been charging ahead
full force ever since.
“I’m very excited about my responsibilities
and I’m looking forward to working with
everyone from Sheldon Hall, King Alumni Hall and
Culkin,” she said. “I really believe
in this campus.”
Leszczynski will oversee Oswego’s Telefund
phonathon, the Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD)
solicitation program and the parents fund-raising

FIVE JOIN ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Oswego Alumni Association recently welcomed
five members to the Board of Directors beginning
July 1. Each member will serve a three-year term.
Steve Doran ’82
works with Merrill Lynch, assisting with their
global equity finance platform. He has completed
two competitive Wall Street training programs
and has over 20 years of stock market experience.
His primary focus is on promoting capital market
products while providing margin and short financing
to large hedge funds. As an undergraduate, Doran
competed on the Oswego lacrosse team, serving
as captain in 1982. Doran earned a degree in business

AT FESTIVAL OF TREES
Join President Deborah F. Stanley for a special
holiday reception for alumni and friends at Syracuse’s
Everson Museum Festival of Trees, at 6 p.m. Thursday,
Dec. 7.
The event is being hosted by Mark
Tryniski ’85, president and chief
executive officer of Community Bank, in conjunction
with the Oswego Alumni Association.
Alumni and guests will be able to view the dozens
of decorated trees on display in the Everson’s
annual holiday event.

DASGUPTA SHARES
HER INSIGHTS ON CAMPUS
Sanjukta Dasgupta, a Fulbright Scholar in Residence
from India, is teaching, sharing knowledge and
creating connections at SUNY Oswego this fall.
Through her residency, a joint effort of the college
and the Council for International Exchange of
Scholars (which administers the Fulbright program),
Dasgupta teaches "Literature in the Global
Context" and "Vision and Textuality."
The latter concerns Indian women in Indian films,
both residents and expatriates, and "what
are their priorities, perspectives and techniques,
and how they are responding to the same historical
content" as male filmmakers, she said.

KRUPKE PLANS MTV EVENTS
Allison Krupke ’05
graduated a little over a year ago, but already
she has a job that most would totally request.
Krupke works for MTV Networks, which owns MTV,
VH1, Spike, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon. She
works in the Special Events Art Department Office
in Times Square. In simple terms, Krupke helps
create the décor for various events, including
award shows, after-parties, and viewing parties.
“A lot of what I do is coming up with ideas
or themes for events,” Krupke said in an

BASKET OF OSWEGO GOODIES
Alan Weinger '75
is the lucky winner of a basket of Oswego goodies.
The Oswego Alumni Association sponsored a contest
for all registered users of OsweGoConnect,
the exclusive online community for SUNY Oswego
alumni, who were signed up by Sept. 1. Weinger
was chosen out of 5,579 OsweGoCOnnect users in
a random drawing.
Weinger will receive a prize consisting of an
Oswego Family Portrait, Canale’s sauce and
salad dressing, Rudy's Texas Hot Sauce Spice Mix
