Jamie Stack Leszczynski ’04
has joined the Office of University Development as associate
director of annual giving.
Leszczynski began working out of her office in Sheldon
Hall Oct. 10 and has been charging ahead full force
ever since.
“I’m very excited about my responsibilities
and I’m looking forward to working with everyone
from Sheldon Hall, King Alumni Hall and Culkin,”
she said. “I really believe in this campus.”
Leszczynski will oversee Oswego’s Telefund phonathon,
the Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) solicitation
program and the parents fund-raising initiative. She
is particularly eager to create more structure and organization
for the Telefund, and is developing ways to motivate
student volunteers and challenge them with new fund-raising
goals.
“I hope that I can put a more creative spin on
the annual fund,” Leszczynski said. “I want
to make everyone aware of the fund and its exceptional
benefits for students.”
The former marketing manager of Oswego County National
Bank is well equipped to bring a fresh outlook to the
office. While at OCNB, she led meetings to bolster employee
morale, using games and activities to make the workplace
more fun.
Leszczynski also picked up some fund-raising skills
during her time at OCNB. “As the marketing manager,
I was on the opposite end of things,” she said.
“People were asking me for money.”
Her experience with solicitors taught Leszczynski the
importance of having a personal connection with a fund-raising
effort. “It makes a difference when someone really
believes in the cause,” she said.
As an undergraduate, Leszczynski made use of her marketing
savvy working for the Oswegonian.
She was the student newspaper’s sales manager.
Leszczynski also credits her time as a resident mentor
in Riggs Hall with preparing her for success in the
business world. The opportunity helped her learn how
to relate to different personalities, since she was
responsible for 40 women on her floor.
Some of her favorite memories include meeting up with
friends for Late Night snack and meeting her husband
during the first week of her freshman year.
“You really discover yourself here,” Leszczynski
said of Oswego State. “This is the time when you
really learn from great teachers and each other.”
Director of Annual Giving Kimberly
Waters McGann ’95 said that Leszcynski’s
love for Oswego and real-world experience make her a
perfect fit for the new position. “She has the
right mix of public relations and marketing skills for
the position,” McGann said.
“She has a huge portfolio of things she’s
accomplished,” said McGann. “I’m really
excited to be working with her and to see her new ideas
and energy influence the annual fund.” |
