Smith was seeded second at 141 pounds and won his semifinal by a 5-0 decision over Willie Horwath of Ithaca. In the finals, Smith lost a 6-4 overtime decision to Paul LeBlanc of Cortland. Smith then lost a true second match 10-4 against Luke Baum of RIT. Both Baum and Smith earned wild card spots in the NCAA Tournament.
