Inspiring
Horizons: The Campaign for Oswego is on track
toward its $17 million goal, as Oswego’s first-ever
capital campaign enters its fifth year. It is also generating
much more than funds to enhance the educational experience
for Oswego students. “We are so excited
about the success of Inspiring
Horizons,” said Kerry
Casey Dorsey ’81, associate vice president
for development and alumni relations. “This campaign
is a platform to engage thousands of our alumni. It
provides the impetus for these alumni to reconnect with
the institution in a wide variety of meaningful ways,
from returning to classrooms to share their experiences
with students, to building a stronger alumni network
around the country.”
Dorsey reported that as of March 31, the campaign had
reached $14.5 million, or 85.4 percent of its $17 million
goal. Of that, funds raised for the college’s
endowment totaled $2.9 million of a $4 million goal,
or 73.6 percent; the Fund for Oswego raised $7.9 million
of its $8 million goal, or 99.2 percent; and funds for
capital projects totaled $3.6 million of a $5 million
goal, or 72.8 percent.
Dorsey added that the campaign is creating a “culture
of philanthropy” that will continue to benefit
the institution and its students well beyond the end
of the current effort. “This campaign
really provides Oswego with the opportunity to take
control of its own destiny. The philanthropic support
creates a measure of excellence that significantly benefits
the institution and that our students deserve,”
she said. “The Alumni and Development staff consider
this effort a most worthy endeavor, because through
the generous philanthropy of thousands of alumni and
friends, our college community will reap benefits for
generations to come.”
