Women's soccer player Maureen
Kasperek ’06 and men's basketball player
Ahmad Mims ’06
were honored as the Outstanding Senior Athletes at Oswego
State for 2006.
Each will be long remembered at Oswego State because
they have achieved remarkable records in their respective
sports. Kasperek and Mims have been recognized on several
all-conference teams and helped lead their teams to
impressive accomplishments over the last four years.
Kasperek, a native of Fulton, averaged more than two
points per game in her Laker soccer career. She broke
the program's career scoring mark as a junior and finished
her career with 71 goals and 12 assists for 154 points
in just 75 games. She was an All-SUNYAC honoree in all
four of her seasons at Oswego State and was selected
to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's
All-Region team for 2005, becoming the first Laker player
to earn that distinction in four years. Kasperek majored
in childhood education.
Mims, a native of Syracuse, was a versatile basketball
player that excelled in a number of roles but left his
mark at Oswego State as the program's all-time leading
shot blocker. He set the single-season blocked shots
record as a freshman and proceeded to break his own
record in each of the next three years. Those defensive
accomplishments were achieved despite his playing a
number of roles for the team. He played four positions
during his career and also scored over 1,000 points.
He was named to the All-SUNYAC First Team as a senior
and majored in childhood education. |
