Dedicated Oswego State
hockey fans fill the stands in the new Campus
Center. |
Oswego State’s men’s ice hockey games against
Plattsburgh always bring out the best in the teams,
campuses, and communities. These perennial SUNYAC contenders
have a storied rivalry that has, in recent seasons,
been marked by a few unfortunate incidents during games
between the teams.
Some fans have repeatedly thrown objects on the playing
surface throughout games in both Oswego and Plattsburgh
in recent seasons, resulting in numerous delay-of-game
penalties against the home teams. A fun tradition has
negatively affected the teams and competitions, when
league championships are at stake.
It’s time for a change, and the Oswego State players
and coaches have asked fans to cooperate in making new
traditions a part of the rivalry, as the Lakers have
moved in to the new Campus Center Ice Arena.
The Feb. 10 game at the Campus Center Ice Arena between
Oswego State and Plattsburgh is sure to be a sellout,
and also marks the inaugural white out game between
these two teams. All fans in attendance are asked to
wear white shirts. Promotional towels will also be handed
out to everyone in attendance.
Team members met with students in campus dormitories,
flyers were distributed, and messages were aired on
the arena video board, campus media outlets and Web
sites.
Join in on White Out 2007, a chance for a new arena
to make new traditions.
