Four Oswego State athletes earned all-conference recognition
in the fall season, as two men's soccer players, a field
hockey player, and a volleyball player were honored
as members of the All-SUNYAC teams.
Men's soccer midfielder Jim
Mertz '08, originally from Chili, was a second
team selection. He finished third on the team in scoring
with 16 points on five goals and six assists. Defender
Pat Hurley '07, a native
of Center Moriches, was a third team All-SUNYAC honoree.
He led all SUNYAC defenders in goals, and led the Lakers
with eight. He also had five assists during the season
and led the team with 21 points. Jenna
Retzer '09, from Lancaster, was a second-team
selection on the All-SUNYAC Field Hockey Teams. Retzer
finished the Oswego State season with two goals and
two assists, and was tied for second in team scoring
as a midfielder.
Volleyball setter Shannon Hennigan
'09, who is from Eden, was a second team selection
in the West Division. Hennigan led the team in assists,
and eclipsed 1,000 assists for the second straight year.
She finished the season with 1,117 assists and missed
breaking her own school record in that category by two
assists. Hennigan did break the school record for aces
in a season with 85, and tied the school record for
assists in a match with nine, which she did twice during
the season.
