ART DEPARTMENT DRAWS
NATIONAL DISTINCTION
SUNY Oswego's art department recently received
accreditation from the National Association of
Schools of Art and Design, an achievement that
puts the college on two select lists.
The latest recognition means that all three of
Oswego's creative arts departments — art,
music and theatre — are nationally accredited.
Oswego joins New Paltz as the only SUNY schools
where all three programs hold this distinction,
according to data on the Council of Arts Accrediting
Associations' Web site. The college is also one
of only a half-dozen SUNY institutions with NASAD
accreditation.
"I think it gives us external recognition,"
SUNY Oswego Dean of Arts and Sciences Sara Varhus

MCMAHON HONORED BY BOY
SCOUTS
Kevin J. McMahon ’78,
chairman and CEO of Edwards and Kelcey, a New
Jersey-based engineering, architectural, planning,
and construction management firm, was honored
June 8 by the Patriots’ Path Council of
Boy Scouts of America in Florham Park, N.J., as
the 2006 Distinguished Citizen.
McMahon and his firm helped the council raise
$130,000 to support Scoutreach and other programs
designed to enable underprivileged youths to participate
in scouting.

DOYLE HONORED AS
INSURANCE WOMAN OF YEAR
Corbette S. Doyle ’78,
chief diversity officer of Aon Corp. and chair
of its National Healthcare Practice, was named
Insurance Woman
of the Year by the Association of Professional
Insurance Women.
A cocktail reception and award ceremony was held
in Doyle’s honor Thursday, June 8, at the
New York Marriott Marquis.

The Oswego State men's and women's ice hockey
teams will compete in the 2006-07 season in the
brand new hockey arena at the Campus Center. Season

When the 17th annual Oswego State Fall
Classic tees off Sept. 8 at the Oswego Country
Club, it will mean more than just fun for participants
in the event. The Fall Classic brings together
college and community partners to support scholarships
for Oswego State students.
Constellation Energy and the New York State Laborers-Employers
Cooperation and Education Trust Fund will once
again serve as Presidential Sponsors, lending
their support at the highest level to the effort
to raise funds for the Presidential Scholars program
