Metro Center
Buzz Builds as Opening Nears

The SUNY Oswego Metro Center at the Atrium, 2 Clinton Square, Syracuse, is set to open in May.The first classes at the SUNY Oswego Metro Center won't be offered until this summer, but the renovated space in the Atrium building in Syracuse is getting plenty of attention now.

The college showcased its project at the Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce 16th Annual Business Show in March.

"That was greeted very well by the visitors to our booth," said center Director James N. Jerose '71, who added those visitors included business people and Oswego alumni. "There were a lot of ‘wows.'

"This really was the first time the business community got a full sense of it," he said.

The center will offer graduate and professional development courses, including teacher certification and a part-time master's in business administration program.

"We're also going to be visiting local businesses to see what courses they would like to see," he said.

With classes offered days, evenings and weekends, the center will be able to accommodate many different interests and schedules.

"It also melts away the miles between Syracuse and Oswego," Jerose said.

The Metro Center will serve as a gathering place for alumni and other college-related events.

"Within the facility there is plenty of space for creative use," Jerose said.

The 11,700-square-foot center will open in mid-May. For more information on offerings or enrollment, contact the college Division of Continuing Education at 315-312-2270 or ced@oswego.edu.
