Entrepreneurship Scholar Mian Honored with Chancellor's Award
Sarfraz A. Mian, professor in Oswego’s School of Business, expert in entrepreneurship and business incubation, and scholar with a global reputation, has received a 2012 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities.
In a February letter to SUNY, President Deborah F. Stanley said Mian’s “enormous reputation in his field has enhanced the reputation of the business school, and his extraordinary work ethic is an inspiration to faculty and students alike.”
Mian joined the faculty in 1992, became a full professor in 1999 and has chaired the management and marketing department since 2010. He has a sustained record of research publications in books and peer-reviewed journals, frequent citations of his works in articles by management and entrepreneurship scholars around the world, a record of grant awards and a background of international teaching, conferences, projects and service in Pakistan, India, Mexico, Germany and elsewhere.
Mian is actively engaged in four international grants from the United States, Mexico, Pakistan and Canada. Grants have enabled him to complete two national studies as principal investigator for the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, an academic research consortium active in more than 60 countries.
