Burridge and Collins Named Oswego State Senior Athletes of the Year

Oswego State men's basketball player Chad Burridge '12 and three-sport women's student-athlete Kelly Collins '12 have been named the 2012 Oswego State Outstanding Senior Male and Female athletes of the year by the Athletic Department.

Burridge helped usher the Laker men's basketball program to unprecedented levels of success with the first SUNY Athletic Conference Championship since 1965, the school's first 18-0 conference season and back-to-back NCAA appearances.

In the process, he became one of the most decorated athletes in Oswego State history. Burridge was a two-time SUNYAC Player of the Year, two-time ECAC Upstate Player of the Year, two-time D3hoops.com East Region First Team, two-time National Association of Basketball Coaches East District Player of the Year, and two-time NABC First Team All-American. The 2008 SUNYAC and ECAC Upstate Rookie of the Year was also selected as the 2012 D3hoops.com East Region Player of the Year, the 2012 SUNYAC Tournament Most Valuable Player, and was chosen to play in the Reese's Division III All-Star Game.

Statistically, Burridge will graduate as the program's all-time leader in blocked shots at 254 and ranks second in points at 1,865 and rebounds at 875.

Collins was a rarity among collegiate-level student-athletes, as she wrapped up her career as a four-year athlete in three sports: field hockey, women's ice hockey and women's lacrosse.

Collins made her largest mark in field hockey where the 2008 SUNYAC Rookie of the Year went on to be named First Team All-SUNYAC twice. She ranks third in career points (80), goals (31) and assists (18). This past season she led the SUNYAC in scoring with 25 points on 11 goals and three assists. On the ice, Collins finished atop the program's points and goals list with 50 and 36, respectively, in 95 games. In lacrosse, she led the team in draw controls for three out of her four seasons, and ranked fourth in scoring this year with 18 points on 12 goals and six assists.
