Milestone Classes Gathering Gifts for Reunion

With the June 7 to 10 Reunion Weekend 2012 nearing and registration opening later this month, milestone classes are making the final push to reach their class gift goals.

The class gifts are a long-standing Reunion tradition and one of the college's most reliable resources for The Fund for Oswego.

Reunion Giving Volunteers from the milestone classes of 1962, 1987 and 2002 are reaching out to classmates by letters, email and phone ⎯ in some cases, on social media sites like Facebook ⎯ to get the word out and participation numbers up.

“I think it’s really important,” said Lisa Marceau Schnorr ’87, a volunteer on both the Reunion giving and planning committees. “I see what we’ve done with the campus over the years and I want to keep it up.

“It’s really affordable, but it’s still a top-notch education with top-notch facilities,” said Schnorr, whose daughter, Nicole ’15, enrolled at Oswego in the fall.

The class with the greatest percentage of donors will be awarded the Participation Cup at Reunion.

The Class of 1961 had the greatest participation last year with 34 percent. This year’s 50-year Reunion Class of 1962 leads the standings in participation (37.6 percent) and money raised ($29,357.61).

Follow the progress of all participating classes — those with years ending in two and seven — online.

Every graduate of Oswego is invited to Reunion. There will be special events planned for milestone anniversary reunion classes, including 1937, 1942, 1947, 1952, 1957, 1962, 1967, 1972, 1987, 1991, 1992, 1993 and 2002.

In addition, Alpha Delta Eta, Alpha Sigma Chi, Arethusa, Beta Tau Epsilon, Delta Chi Omega/TKE, Delta Kappa Kappa, Honors Program, Omega Delta Phi, Phi Lambda Phi, Phi Sigma Phi, Pi Delta Chi, Sigma Tau Chi and Theta Chi Rho have mini-reunion events planned. Sigma Gamma celebrates its 65th anniversary, Omicron Xi marks 30 years and for the first time the Oswego Alumni Association is inviting back former Admissions tour guides and Honors Program alumni as well.

In addition, alumni are invited to visit the Reunion Weekend website or call the Reunion Hotline at 315-312-5559 for the most up-to-date information.
