Boots Goes Pro with LA Kings Affiliate

A minor league affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Los Angeles Kings signed Oswego Laker forward Ian Boots ’12 in March.

Boots will play for the Ontario, Calif., Reign of the ECHL. The signing came just weeks after the Lakers made their third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III Frozen Four.

The Lakers lost to St. Norbert College in the championship game, 4-1.

With Oswego State, Boots recorded 28 points (13 goals, 15 assists) in 30 games, leading all seniors on the team. He was named to the 2012 NCAA All-Tournament Team.

During the 2010-11 season, he led the team in all offensive categories and earned a spot on the All-SUNY Athletic Conference First Team and All-America East Second Team.

From 2008 to 2010, Boots played for The Ohio State University, recording a two-season total of 29 points in 50 appearances.

Boots also played a season of junior level hockey in the Canadian Junior Hockey League between the Cornwall Colts and Brockville Braves for a total of 54 games.
