SUNY Oswego a Perennial Best in College Guide
U.S. News Media Group counts SUNY Oswego among the top public regional universities in the North for 2012.
Oswego is No. 17 on the U.S. News accounting of the best 50 public campuses in the Northern region this year.
U.S. News also selected Oswego for its "A-Plus Schools for B Students" list, as it did a year ago. The A-plus list in New York includes such schools as Rochester Institute of Technology, Fordham University, SUNY's centers at Buffalo and Stony Brook, and Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
U.S. News' "America's Best Colleges" guide encompasses more than 1,400 colleges nationwide, compared on a set of 15 performance indicators from freshman retention to financial resources to peer assessment.
U.S. News modifies its ranking methodology every year but made some significant changes this year — adjusting to the new Carnegie Foundation classifications and adding for-profit institutions for the first time. Still, Oswego's ranking remains substantially the same as last year.
Many of the U.S. News rankings are online and in the college guide issue of U.S. News and World Report magazine.
