Summer Opportunities Slated at Metro Center
Central New York professionals looking to upgrade their job titles or simply sharpen their skills have a summer of opportunities ahead of them at the SUNY Oswego Metro Center starting this month.
The Metro Center, on Syracuse's Clinton Square, will offer three series of programs focused on office management, customer service and leadership.
Most programs are scheduled for 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesdays through August and include a boxed lunch. SUNY Oswego will provide transportation from its main campus in Oswego to the Metro Center and back for its employees and others in the area.
"In today's tough economy, making improvements in employees' customer service and management skills distinguishes top performing companies from their competitors," said Dr. Kimberly Armani, director of the Metro Center. "The suites provide a flexible, affordable and fun way for employees to improve skills that are critical to both their own and their companies' performance."
Each of the three professional development suites includes six programs. People honing office management skills can sign up to learn more about business writing and accounting, for example. The customer service series delves into that topic and includes programs on dealing with difficult people and managing stress. And the leadership suite provides training on team building and transitioning from peer to supervisor among its six programs.
The fee for each program is $99, or $400 for a six-program suite. Participants who complete five programs can earn 1.5 Continuing Education Units and a certificate of completion.
Call the SUNY Oswego Metro Center at 315-399-4100 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
